Captain Samuel Schultz – Founding Board Member, 2008

On April 3, 2018, Captain Samuel Schultz was killed when his CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter crashed outside the border town of El Centro, California. Three other members of his squadron were also killed in the crash. Sam was a 2012 graduate of Penn State University and was commissioned through the NROTC program as a Marine Option Midshipman. Sam’s memory is preserved in perpetuity at the Penn State NROTC unit through the Captain Sam Schultz Memorial Award and a memorial in the Wagner Building lobby that recognizes all Penn State Sailors and Marines killed in the line of duty since 9/11. Rest in peace Sam.
